jan 2 2022: i got the jurassic world extreme chompin' spinosaurus recently and want to do a short overview of her!
mattels extreme chompin' spinosaurus is their third main line spinosaurus figure and from what i can tell has the same model as the others. maybe with some slight differences in proportions ( mainly on the feet to keep her standing upright). the paint application on her is definitely better than the previous toys thoughˌ it has loads more detail and the colors are much better than the dull gray of the first spinosaurus figure. this toy is BIGˌ at about 10 inches tall and 22 inches long.
her main feature is obviously to CHOMP! if you press in a button on her neckˌ her mouth will open wide for as long as its pressedˌ and snap shut when released. she can snatch up human figures pretty easily and its fun to play around with. yikeˌ watch the teeth! ono
her arms swivel on ball jointsˌ and one of her legs has multiple poses it can snap to. only one leg .. the other leg wont snap into position and can easily be pushed up or down at any increment. im not sure if its intentional or mines brokenˌ but it causes her to faceplant a lot because itll slowly slide forward. heres a picture of her hip on that side:
the way its sticking out makes me think it might be broken .. ;_ ; her tail is the same wayˌ and wont hold any position other than the limp pose in the first picture. but other than thatˌ shes great! reallyy hoping for a super collosal spinosaurus figure in the future. i love the super collosal indominus. 🧡

about xtractaurs.
xtractaurs was a dinosaur toyline created in 2009 by mattel that i owned and loved to pieces ( literally). they were highly stylized dinosaur figures with a hole on one side that you would stick an extraction guns headphone-jack needle in to " extract" their dna and transfer it to your computer. the extraction gun came with the starter kit along with ultrabite the t.rex and the games installation disc.
the online game focused on training your dinosaurs to increase their stats and make them stronger ... then sending them after evil dinosaurs called " megavores" ( lol) or competing against other players in a simple turn-based fighting game. each species also had its own special abilityˌ for exampleˌ t. rex had a more powerful " chomp" ability.
you could also hybridize the dinosaurs in-game and IRL! must .. COLLECT .. the figures limbsˌ tailsˌ and heads could be snapped off and swapped with other dinosaurs body parts. hybridized dinosaurs had better in-game stats than regular dinosaurs and abilities from multiple species. hybrids were the main incentive for collecting more figures.
a disgrace to god.
they became such an integral of the toyline that the xtractaurs burger king toy was a hybrid! the design was sort of a catch-all mascot for xtractaurs species.
unfortunatelyˌ xtractaurs was discontinued in 2012 and the online game shut down. mattel gave a brief apology and the game and figures havent returned since. i have hopes that theyll make a return in the future since mattels current jurassic world toyline has been such a hit! i plan on covering some of the jurassic world figures as wellˌ and since i currently collect those ill have my own photos. :3
